Gadsden Consulting, a family-run consulting engineers firm that has been providing local clients with services for over 30 years. Based in Barrow-in-Furness, close to the Lake District, we offer a comprehensive range of services that enable us to deliver professional design solutions for a range of project types and industries.

We are an innovative consulting engineers firm committed to putting the client’s needs first. Since we recognise that every project is different, we work hard to offer tailored solutions that satisfy the particular requirements of each of our clients. From the beginning phases of planning through the conclusion of construction, our team of skilled specialists is dedicated to providing top-notch service.

Gadsden Consulting values sustainability. We recognise that the building sector can have a substantial negative impact on the environment, and we work to reduce that impact through our design and management techniques. We support using SUDs practices, consider the materials used in our designs, and designing with energy efficiency in mind. We challenge our clients to consider sustainable practices whenever possible by doing this.

Gadsden Consulting is devoted to minimising our own carbon footprint as a business. We aim to transition to a paperless workplace and eventually to carbon neutrality. We aim to set an example and encourage others to follow suit by trying to lessen our environmental footprint.

Our services are not region-specific; we frequently do projects in Cumbria, The Lake District, Morecambe Bay, Lancashire, Merseyside, and North Wales, among other areas of the North-West.

Mike Gadsden

Mike began working for the practice in 2002, becoming a partner in 2006 and is now the Managing Director of the company. Mike leads the structural engineering side of the practice.

Guilherme Borges

Originally from Brazil, Guilherme moved to the UK in 2019 to further his career after completing his degree in 2014. He has a post graduate degree in Structural Engineering and has a particular specialisation in concrete design. Guilherme is currently working towards becoming a Chartered Engineer.

Rob completed a BEng as part of the companies day release scheme and has now progressed onto studying for a Masters Degree in Flood & Coastal Risk Management. Rob has a keen interest in drainage design, particularly SuDS and Flood Risk.

Starting his career in his home country of Cape Verde before travelling to Japan to undertake a PhD in Structural Engineering, Ilanildo has joined the company to further his career with a view to progressing towards becoming a chartered engineer

Mark founded the company in 1989 and was the head of the company until he stepped aside in 2020. Having developed a wealth of experience in all aspects of our industry over his career, Marks services are still retained by the company on a consultancy basis.
